Karanjia: There has been a sudden change of weather in the Mayurbhanj district of Odisha. Several areas in Mayurbhanj are experiencing a cold wave. The night-time temperature is likely to drop by three to five degrees Celsius. The Regional Meteorological Department has predicted a further drop in temperature in the next two days.

Karanjia sub-district of Mayurbhanj district is experiencing cloudy weather with light rain at various places. People are seen wrapping themselves in blankets due to the cold wave in Mayurbhanj. Yesterday, the minimum temperature in the Mayurbhanj district was 11 degrees Celsius. Today Similipal Sanctuary and the foothills of Similipal are experiencing more cold.

From December 9 onwards, the night temperature will decrease further from the suburbs to the coast. On the other hand, the active low pressure has weakened over south Chhattisgarh and its adjoining areas. The cyclonic circulation associated with it has gone up to 3.1 kilometers in the atmosphere. Due to this, several areas across Odisha continue to experience cold.

On the other hand, the Weather experts said that after the rainfall, cyclone Michaung changed its course in different parts of the state and passed through interior Odisha. Since it remained far away from the coastal areas, the intensity of rainfall in Odisha was not much. Further, due to minimal to no rainfall in Odisha, the wind speed remains reduced.
