Bhadrak: In a major drug haul, the police on Tuesday seized 175g of brown sugar worth Rs 17 lakhs and arrested one person in this connection in Bhadrak district.
The arrested accused has been identified as Tapan Kumar Behera.
Acting on a tip-off, the Excise Department of Cuttack conducted a patrolling at Guamal in Bhadrak and caught Tapan carrying the drugs near the Shiv Temple in Tihidi block.
The excise team seized 175 g of brown sugar, a bike from his possession following which Tapan was arrested. He has been forwarded to the court by the Excise Department.
The cost of the seized brown sugar is estimated to be Rs 17 lakhs, informed the Excise Department.
