Brahma Parivartan fiasco: ex SJTA head asked to submit report in 3 weeks

Puri Review MeetingPuri: In a major development, the managing committee of Puri Jagannath Temple on Thursday asked former Chief Administrator of the Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) Suresh Chandra Mohapatra to submit a detailed report in three weeks on the Brahma Parivartan fiasco during Lord Jagannath’s Nabakalebar festival in 2015.

The decision came during a review meeting conducted by the managing committee here in the holy city.  Puri King Gajapati Dibyasingha Deb presided the review meeting while District collector Arvind Agarwal, SJTA chief Pradeep Jena, some senior servitors and other office bearers attended the event.

On the orders of the Government of Odisha, Mohapatra had completed his investigation into the alleged mismanagement of the Nabakalebar festival during 2015, but didn’t submit any report in this regard.

In another development, the committee decided to resume the Jagamohan repair work, which has been stopped since June 2 due to the Ratha Jatra celebration, from July 14. It has also emphasized beautification of the steel frame and columns attached to the Jagamohan.

The managing Committee, whose tenure ends this month, held two phase of meeting today as to review various aspects of Ratha Jatra festival and Lord Jagannath temple.
