Berhampur: Mystery shrouded the death of a minor girl whose body found under a bush near Patapalli Chhak under Sorada police limits in Ganjam district last night.
The deceased has been identified as Santoshini Gouda of Gundirikani village.
The incident came to light after some locals spotted the body last night and called up police. Schoolbag, chappal, certificate and other items were also found lying by the side of the deceased.
Police have seized the body for autopsy and carried out the preliminary investigation with the help of scientific squad and dog squad.
Ganjam SP and Aska SDPO Suryamani Pradhan also rushed to the spot and took stock of the situation.
While the investigation into the incident is underway locals have informed that the deceased had eloped with his boyfriend two months back without the consent of her family. However, as the relationship of the couple went through a bad phase the girl tried to return her home but was not allowed for the same by the family.
