BJP’s 12-hour bandh in Bonai cripples life

Sundergarh: A 12-hour bandh call given by BJP pressing the government for the fulfilment of a 6-point charter of demands paralysed life completely in Bonai area in the district today.

During the bandh observation which started at around 6 AM in the morning and continued till 12 PM, streets in Bonai wore a deserted look as vehicular movement was completely disrupted. Schools and Colleges in the area also remained closed to avoid any untoward incident during the bandh observation.

Bandh supporters also blocked the NH-143 and NH-215 and resorted to picketing during the protest which resulted in stranding of hundreds of vehicle on either side of the highways.

BJP is demanding upgradation of Bonai and Lahunipada gram panchayats as NACs, Khunta village as a block, declaration of Bonai Sub Division as drought-hit among others.
