Soro: Normal life was paralysed across Soro and Bahanaga blocks of Balasore district on Monday following a 12-hour bandh which was observed by BJP in demand for Sub Division status to Soro.
Vehicular movement was completely disrupted on all major roads in both the blocks starting from the morning and commuters faced a tough time. However, traffic flow on the national highways and at the railway stations remained normal as these were kept out of the purview of the bandh.
While shops and other business establishments preferred to down their shutters in view of the picketing by the bandh supporters, educational institutions including schools, colleges and coaching centres also remained shut starting from the morning.
BJP is demanding sub-division status to Soro as it claims the block fulfills all the criteria for it. It has alleged that despite pressing for the same for several times in the past, the administration is yet to pay heed to the local’s legitimate demand.
