Bhubaneswar: Women thrash police in Salia Sahi
Bhubaneswar: A police official was thrashed by a group of women in Salia Sahi area of the city for allegedly protecting two drug dealers today.
According to reports, a group of women while having an anti-drug/liquor awareness meeting in Salia Sahi on the occasion of International Women’s Day managed to detain two youths who were trying to sell brown sugar in the area. Later, they informed the Nayapali police about the matter.
A police official reportedly arrived at the spot in civil dress. However, instead of arresting the drug dealers, the cop, as per allegation, tried to convince the women and the locals to leave them. Fumed over the police’s bid to protect the accused, the women tied the drug peddlers to a tree and thrashed the police official.
Later, on being informed about the matter, a team of Nayapali police rushed to the spot with PCR Van and rescued the trio from the clutches of the women.
Further investigation into the matter is underway.
