Bhubaneswar: Maha Shivarathri 2022 in Lingaraj temple to be observed amid Covid restrictions

Bhubaneswar: The Maha Shivarathri 2022 will be celebrated at the famous Lord Lingaraj temple in the capital city of Odisha adhering to strict Covid restrictions. It was decided in the important meeting of the Trust Board held today.

As per reports, an important meeting of the temple’s Trust Board was held on Friday in the chairmanship of the Trust Board President cum Khordha District Collector. In the meeting it was decided that like last year, this year also the Maha Shivarathri festival will be celebrated in Lingaraj temple amid Covid 19 restrictions imposed by the Government.

It has been learnt that the Mahadeepa  of Lord Lingaraj has been scheduled to be lifted to the temple top at 10 pm. Preparations will be made for celebration of the massive festival peacefully.

In the meeting, the demands of the Nijogs were also discussed. The Additional District Magistrate has been given responsibility to address the issues after discussion.

Regarding entry of devotees to the temple on the Festival day, decision is yet to be taken. It will be finally decided later. Detailed discussions held for celebration of Maha Shivaratri abiding the Covid guidelines.

In the meeting today, the Additional District Magistrate and members of the Trust Board were also present.

It is to be noted that Maha Shivaratri will be celebrated on March 1, 2022.
