Bhitarkanika National Park reopens for visitors after crocodile census

Kendrapara: The Bhitarkanika National Park which remained closed for 10 days to facilitate estuarine crocodile census was opened for visitors today.

The park remained closed from December 26 to January 4 during which teams of zoological experts and forest officials carried out the counting of the saltwater crocodiles and prepared a detailed report.

As many as 23 teams took part in the crocodile census this year which includes 12 from Bhitarkanika National Park, 2 from Gahirmatha range, 7 from Rajanagar range and 2 from Mahakalapada range.
