Bhadrak: The death toll in the Bhadrak spurious liquor consumption case rose to eight as three more persons died this morning.
The names of the deceased are Kuna Jena, Sankarsan Parida, Ramachandra Padihari, Sarbeswar Das, Budhiram Jena, Baidhar Nayak, Debendra Panda and Sadhu Charan Nayak.
Post the hooch tragedy on Tuesday, locals staged a roadblock for up to 10 hours at Pirahat. Their prime demands being compensation and action against the culprits. Both Congress and BJD supported the cause and have demanded Rs 25 lakh for each of the victims.
Congress workers staged a dharna in front of Pirahat police station with a demand for quick action. Meanwhile, BJP held a press conference demanding compensation for the hooch tragedy victims. Both the parties have given an ultimatum of 72 hours to the government, else the protests will be intensified.
