Mahanga: Mystery shrouded the death of a bank employee whose body was found lying on the rooftop of his office located in Machhuati area of Salepur in Cuttack district on Tuesday.
The deceased has been identified as Ramesh Kumar Rout, a resident of Purunapari village under Nemalo police limits of the same district.
Ramesh who worked at Cuttack Central Cooperative Bank, Machhuati Branch for past 15 years as messenger-cum-watchman, was spotted dead by some staff of his office today morning. They immediately called up local police and informed.
Salipur Police reached the spot later in the morning and rushed the body for autopsy to a nearby hospital.
Meanwhile, the family members of the deceased have suspected that he might have been murdered. While he was off duty yesterday, how his body came to the rooftop of his office, they asked.
Notably, some unidentified miscreants had snatched away a cash bag containing Rs 30 lakh by stabbing Ramesh near Nemalo Naga Mutt on January 20 this year.
