Cuttack: In yet another case of child abandonment in the State, a newborn girl was found lying near a drain in Sutahata area in the city today.
Some passers-by who heard the baby crying this morning rescued it and rushed to Cuttack Shishu Bhawan for treatment where her condition is stated to be stable.
Police have registered a case in connection with the case and are trying to trace the parents of the baby.
Notably, on October 2 a newborn had been found dumped in a similar unhygienic condition from a garbage bin in the Madhuban Community Health Centre (CHC) premises under Kuakhia area in Jajpur. The baby had been rushed to Cuttack Shishu Bhawan in a critical condition for treatment.
