Puri: At least 8 passengers sustained critical injuries after a bus carrying them turned turtle on Puri-Biragobindapur road under Sakhigopal police limits in Puri district today.
As per the report, driver of the bus namely ‘Sri Durga’ which was en-route to Bhubaneswar carrying around 30 passengers lost control over the wheels after bike came before the vehicle at around 8.30 am in the morning.
In a bid to save the bikers from coming under the wheels of the vehicle the driver suddenly applied brakes which caused it to turn turtle into a roadside bush. While all the passengers remained trapped inside the mangled bus the bikers also sustained injuries in the crash.
Some locals rushed the injured to a government hospital in Sakhigopal by rescuing from the overturned bus and then shifted to Capital Hospital in Bhubaneswar for treatment.
Police have reached the spot and started an investigation into the incident.
