Assets worth lakhs gutted, 4 cattle critically burnt in Puri house fire

Puri: Properties worth lakhs were gutted and at least four cattle sustained burn injuries in a which broke out at a house in Nandala village under Krushnaprasad block of Puri district last night.

As per the report, sparks erupted in one Sarat Chandra Swain’s house in the village late in the night and later spread to a cattle shed located in the vicinity. Till the family members of Swain woke up and launched firefighting efforts at least four cattle had sustained critical burn injuries.

Properties including furniture, electronic goods and other items worth lakhs were completely reduced to ashes in the blaze.

After being intimated on the mishap fire officials rushed to the spot later and doused the flames.

While the cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained, an electric short circuit is being blamed for the mishap.
