9 places record temperature above 40 degrees Celsius in Odisha

Bhubaneswar: Blistering heatwave continues to throw life out of gear in different parts of Odisha with nine places recording temperature above 40 degrees Celsius today.

While Balangir with 42.2 degrees Celsius turned out be the hottest place of the state today, Angul and Talcher were the second hottest places as they witnessed 42.1 degrees Celsius temperature.

Likewise, the temperatures crossed the 40-degree mark in Angul (42.1), Talcher (42.1), Titilagarh (41.5), Malkangiri (41.2), Bhawanipatna (41.0), Jharsuguda (40.6), Sambalpur 40.2 and Sonepur 40.0.

The residents of the state capital city Bhubaneswar witnessed a temperature of 39.7 degrees Celsius while Hirakud and Sundergarh recorded 39.6 and 39.0 degrees Celsius respectively.

Three other places of the state also saw mercury touching the 38 degree Celsius mark. They are Cuttack (38.5), Chandbali (38.4) and Keonjhar 38.0.
