Cuttack: Over 8 dwelling houses were gutted following a massive cylinder blast at Nelia village under Choudwar police limits in Cuttack district on Friday afternoon.
According to reports, the cylinder blast took place in the kitchen room of one Kedar Behera in the area. No one was injured or killed in the blaze.
The cylinder blast resulted in a loud commotion and fire, hearing which people fled their homes. All their household and personal belongings could not be saved due to the huge ablaze after the cylinder blast.
The residents tried to douse the fire but in vain. As a result, as many as 8 houses in the locality were completely engulfed in fire.
After learning about the incident, the fire service team rushed to the spot and doused the flames, preventing it from spreading to other houses in the locality.
Post the mishap, victims have appealed the authorities for financial assistance and relief material.
