6 boars rescued from abandoned well in Sonepur

Sonepur: Forest officials rescued at least six wild boars from an abandoned well in Khaliapali village in the district this morning.

The rescue operation was conducted after some residents of the village spotted the boars inside the well early in the morning and called up Forest Department. As the well was having a little water the boars didn’t drown and were fished out with the help of big sticks in a joint effort of locals and forest officials.

Locals claimed that the rescued animals were part of a pack of boars which sneaked into the village last night in search of food. Later the animals might have slipped into the well unknowingly, they added.

After the rescue the boars have been released into the forest.
