5 quintals of Ganja seized from truck in Odisha, driver arrested
Berhampur: Around 5 quintals of ganja were seized from a truck near Khodasinghi Chhak in Berhampur town on Saturday morning and driver was arrested in this connection.
Acting on a tip-off, the Berhampur excise officials led by the Inspector Hrudaya Chandra Samanta along with his team intercepted a truck at Khodasinghi Chhak and conducted a raid. During the raid, the officials seized 5 quintals of Ganja worth Rs 50 lakh from a secret chamber in the truck and arrested the driver.
The truck was illegally transporting the contraband from Krushnapur village under Patpur police limits to Nagpur.
Later, a further investigation was underway to unearth the possible involvement of others in the smuggling.
