Balasore: The Balasore district Cyber Cell in a joint operation with the Industrial Area police arrested five ATM fraudsters belonging to Uttar Pradesh.
From preliminary investigation the police has been able to know that these fraudsters ask for the ATM cards of people familiar with them, deposit some money in it. They then take the card to the ATM counter of some bank and try to withdraw the amount.
While withdrawing the money they press open the cash vending part of the ATM . The ATM in turn beeps a few times and then the transaction is declined.
Right at that moment the person removes his hand from the cash dispensing area and the stuck cash comes out. The bank server shows no transaction history whereas the fraudsters get the cash.
They later call the bank and complain about the matter, the bank authorities verify the process and return the stated amount to the account.
They told the police that they had learnt the process from the popular video streaming platform Youtube.
