3 killed, 5 injured in bike-car collision in Odisha

Jagatsinghpur: Three persons were killed on the spot while five others sustained severe injuries in a bike-car collision that took place on Cuttack-Paradip road near Pathuriagada village under Kujang police limits in the district today.

The deceased have been identified as Parikhita Satpathy of Badapala, his son Manoranjan and one of their relatives.

According to the eyewitnesses, the accident took place when a speeding Scorpio (SUV), with 6-7 persons onboard, hit the two-wheeler on which the deceased were traveling around 1 PM.

Three persons who were in the four-wheeler sustained grievous injuries. Initially, they were admitted to Kujang hospital and later shifted to SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack as their condition deteriorated.

Following the mishap, locals staged a road blockade on Cuttack-Paradip road by burning tyres. They demanded adequate compensation for the family of the deceased persons.

Kujang police have started an investigation into the mater by sending the bodies to the hospital for postmortem.
