Khurda: A tragic road accident occurred at Soleri bypass road on National Highway 16 under Balugaon police limits in Khurda district on Tuesday night and three people sustained critical injuries on the spot.
The injured people have been identified as Pawan Chowdhury, Lalit Kumar Chowdhury and Balaram Behera.
Reportedly, two cloth laden container trucks was en-route to Andhra Pradesh from Kolkata when one of them stopped midway due to some technical fault in the vehicle. Hence, the other driver also parked the vehicle nearby.
A speeding shrimp laden container truck collided with the cloth laden container when both the drivers were preparing dinner on the road and it ran over the drivers on the spot.
The driver of the shrimp container was trapped inside the cabin for long time following which the locals informed the fire fighters.
On getting the information, the Balugaon fire fighters rushed to the spot and rescued the injured.
All of them have been admitted to the Balugaon hospital in a critical condition.
