2 members of a family die after sustaining burn injuries in Rayagada, 3 critical

Rayagada: In an unfortunate incident, as many as two members of a family succumbed to burn injuries while three others sustained critical injuries in the Rayagada district.

The incident took place in Sikarpai village under the Kalyansinghpur police limits of Rayagada. The deceased have been identified as Dayanidhi Behera and his wife Laxmi Behera.

Reportedly, the fire mishap took place in the bedroom of the couple at around 5.30 pm on Thursday evening. The neighbours rushed to the house after hearing their screams for help.

They were admitted to Rayagada hospital for immediate treatment. Later, they were shifted to Maharaja Krushna Chandra Gajapati (MKCG ) Medical College and Hospital as their health deteriorated.

However, the couple succumbed to their burn injuries in the hospital while undergoing treatment.

Notably, the couple’s two sons, Anil Behera, Srikant Behera, and daughter-in-law Swapna Behera sustained critical injuries and are undergoing treatment.
