2 killed in wild jumbo attack in Angul

Angul: In yet another case of human-animal conflict in the State, at least two persons were killed after being trampled by wild elephant in Suleipal village under Kaniha Forest Range in Angul district today.

The deceased have been identified as Debraj Samal and Sudhakar Mohanty.

As per the report, the victim duo had gone to sprinkle fertilizers in the farmland near the village when the jumbo attack took place. A wild tusker which had sneaked into the forest last night in search of food pounced on them and trampled Sudhakar to death. Later the animal threw Debraj to a distance by lifting with the trunk.

Family members rushed Debraj to Talcher Hospital in critical condition later in the night but he died under treatment.
