108 Boat ambulance introduced in Kendrapada

Kendrapada: In a unique move by the Odisha government, 108 boat ambulance services have been introduced to water locked Batighara and Jamboo panchayats of Mahakalapada block of Kendrapada district. The service was inaugurated by Mahakalapada MLA Sabyasachi Nayak at south Barakolikhala ghats on Wednesday.

The ambulance boat houses four staff and boasts of having primary treatment facilities. In addition, the boat also will be able to transfer patients across the river and riverlets in Mahakalapada block.

The Batighara and Jamboo panchayats lack road connectivity. Patients of all age and especially the pregnant ladies suffered the most as it took a lot of time for the villagers to reach even the nearby hospitals.

State Health Minister Pratap Jena dedicated the 108 boat ambulance service to the residents of Batighara and Jamboo panchayats of Mahakalapada block.
