World Cup 2019: India Beat West Indies by 125 Runs

Manchester: Team India has been on a consistent winning streak this World Cup season and the same continues after their win against West Indies in the 34th match of the season. India beat West Indies by 125 runs yesterday at Old Trafford, Manchester. By this loss, the two-time Champions- West Indies had to bid their goodbyes to Cricket World Cup, 2019.

The men in blue won the toss and started off with batting first. They scored a total of 268 at the loss of 7 wickets in 50 overs. Captain Virat Kohli was adjudged Man of the Match for scoring 72 off 82 balls.

Former Captain MS Dhoni also played a vital part in the innings. Before Dhoni came in, the team was in a slow pause at 140/4 in 30 overs. The 37-year-old cricketer walked in and stayed until the 50th over scoring 56 runs off 61 balls.

Dhoni and Kohli maintained a magical partnership. A half-century from each made them two top scoring batsmen for the match on the tricky pitch.

Coming to the bowling department, Mohammed Shami was on fire with four wickets in his kitty. Not to forget, Jasprit Bumrah and Yuzvendra Chahal took two wickets each. Meanwhile, Hardik Pandya and Kuldeep Yadav wounded up with one wicket each pushing the Caribbeans out of the 2019 World Cup.

Another landmark event in the 34th match of the season was Captain Kohli scoring 20,000 runs in International Cricket breaking Sachin Tendulkar and Brian Lara’s joint record.
