Indian Javelin superstar Neeraj Chopra finished second at the prestigious Diamond League finals on Saturday.

Jakub Vadlejch of Czech Republic won Diamond League 2023 with a throw of 84.24m as Neeraj Chopra finished second with a throw of 83.80m.

Neeraj registered a foul in his first attempt but made a good comeback in the second attempt with a throw of 83.80 metres. He recorded 81.37m, 80.74m, and 80.90m throws in his following attempts as he struggled to surpass Vadlejch’s mark.

Vadlejch, 32, wins his third title in Diamond League history after a gap of seven years. He took the lead with his first attempt throw of 84.01 but recorded three consecutive fouls in his following throws.

Just a few days after winning the World Championships title, he competed in the Zurich DL leg on August 31 when he finished second behind Vadlejch.

Chopra will now head to the Hangzhou Asian Games beginning later this month where he will defend the gold he had won in 2018 in Indonesia.
