Startup owning couple earn Rs 2.2 crore per month after Ratan Tata’s help, Details inside

A startup company of a husband and wife earns Rs 2.2 crore per month with support from their enthusiastic backer, Ratan Tata.

In a world where food delivery apps like Swiggy and Zomato dominate, did you know that there’s a “Swiggy for Petrol”? Meet the innovative startup, Repos Energy, founded by the husband-wife duo, Chetan Walnuj and Aditi Bhosale, based in Pune, India. This unique venture enables customers to order petrol right to their doorstep, mirroring the convenience of food delivery.

Repos Energy is a Pune-based firm that allows online payment and other formats to aid door-to-door fuel delivery across 65 Indian cities.

The journey of Repos Energy began with the familiar story of an arranged marriage. Aditi, initially hesitant to settle down, found a connection with Chetan, and the two tied the knot.

Although she let go of her dream of pursuing higher studies in the United States, the couple discovered a shared passion for entrepreneurship and decided to venture into the world of start-ups together.

The core idea behind Repos Energy was to provide doorstep petrol delivery to consumers and businesses, offering competitive pricing with a margin similar to traditional petrol pumps (Rs 2.2 per litre). In its early days, the company’s profit margin was a modest Rs 70,000 per month.

However, their innovative business model and concept caught the attention of Ratan Tata, the former chairman of Tata Sons and a prominent investor. Impressed by their use of technology and sustainable energy sources, Ratan Tata decided to invest in Repos Energy, which led to remarkable growth.

From initially earning just Rs 70,000 per month, Aditi and Chetan saw their startup’s monthly earnings soar to Rs 2.2 crore. In the last financial year, Repos Energy achieved a turnover of over Rs 65 crore.

Today, the company is valued at over Rs 200 crore and boasts partnerships with major corporations such as Larsen & Toubro, Tata Group, Mahindra & Mahindra, Schindler, JW Marriott Hotel, Phoenix Mall, The Westin Hotel, and General Electric.
