Odisha: Woman branded with hot iron by husband, mother-in-law over dowry, accused arrested
Odisha: On June 5, the woman was branded with hot iron for burning a chapatti by her husband and her mother-in-law.
Dhenkanal: A woman was branded with hot iron by her husband and mother-in-law over dowry. The accused were arrested by the police today.
The victim has been identified as Rashmita Behera. She is the daughter of Bhagirathi Behera, resident of Latadeipur village under the limits of Bhuban police station in Dhenkanal.
She had gotten married to Digvijay of Kharabela village of Jagatsinghpur district. Since the time of marriage, her in-laws used to assault her physically, demanding more dowry from Rahmita’s family.
On June 5, the woman was branded with hot iron for burning a chapatti by her husband and her mother-in-law. Upon knowing about this, Rashmita’s family had rushed her to a hospital for treatment. Following which, they had even lodged a complaint at the Bhuban Police station against her in-laws.
After investigation and interrogation, the police have arrested the Rashmita’s husband and mother-in-law.
