The visarjan of Durga idols has almost been completed in the twin cities of Bhubaneswar and Cuttack, said reports on Thursday.

Bhubaneswar/Cuttack: The visarjan of Durga idols has almost been completed in the twin cities of Bhubaneswar and Cuttack, said reports on Thursday.

The Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) and Commissionerate Police of Bhubaneswar and Cuttack had made all arrangements for a peaceful and organized immersion.

The Commissionerate Police, the Pollution Control Board and the fire department had made various arrangements for the visarjan.

All the Durga idols were taken slowly taken out from the pandals. They will all be brought to the temporary ponds made by the BMC for the immersion. During Visarjan, there was strict blocking and checking along with traffic curtailment across the twin cities.

A total of four artificial ponds have been created on the banks of the Kuakhai and Daya rivers for immersion of the idols. The Devi gada in Cuttack had been prepared with three temporary ponds for the immersion of the idols.

Traffic guidelines have been issued by the Police Commissionerate to regulate the traffic. 55 police platoons, eight additional DCPs, 34 DSPs, 54 inspectors, 350 SIs and ASIs have been deployed. They will be responsible for conducting the Visarjan of Durga idols in peace and order.
