Bhubaneswar: In a bid to restore normal health services at the Veer Surendra Sai Institute of Medical Sciences and Research (VIMSAR) in Burla, disrupted by the ongoing fight between PG students and the director Aswini Kumar Pujahari, the state government on Tuesday appointed as many as 11 doctors in the medical college and hospital on a temporary basis.
Health Minister Pratap Jena who had earlier asked the agitating students to call off their strike first before having discussions with him, claimed that 116 junior doctors who have finished PG have been rushed to the hospital to attend to patients undergoing treatment there.
Speaking to Kalinga TV, Pratap Jena said, “Health services have been disrupted in VIMSAR due to the ongoing casework agitation of the PG students. As many as 116 doctors, who have finished PG, have been appointed temporarily to attend to the patients. They will join duty by 10 AM tomorrow.”
