Valentine’s Day: Bajrang Dal stages peaceful protest in Bhubaneswar

Bhubaneswar: Members of the Bajrang Dal, the youth wing of the Vishva Hindu Parishad (VHP), on Thursday staged  peaceful demonstrations at several places here in Odisha protesting the celebration of Valentine’s Day.

The right-wing activists were seen holding banners and placards in front of Jayadev Vatika, Ekamra Park, Forest Park and several lovers’ point in the city this morning.

Every year, the Bajrang Dal comes out in protest against those celebrating Valentine’s Day keeping watch at public parks and shopping malls.

However, the right-wing group this time did not conduct any moral policing for the lovebirds celebrating the day. Instead, the activists resorted to peaceful protest using banners and placards asking the couple not to celebrate Valentine’s Day.

Ironically, Kalinga Sena, a fringe group in the State has threatened to smear stinging nettle plants on lovebirds who will be found celebrating Valentine’s Day.

Meanwhile, Twin City Commissioner Satyajit Mohanty has assured that the lovebirds of the city will be safe from harassment and moral policing on Valentine’s Day.

Request to Bajrang Dal. Instead of doing such non-sense drama…. If you do something useful for our society it would be better. Example – Punish the people driving or riding on wrong side of road, reckless driving or riding, using mobiles while driving or riding. Punish those who throw garbage on roads.
