Truck-bicycle collision kills man, niece in Odisha Cuttack: A man and his minor niece were killed in a truck-bicycle collision near Asureswar canal under Nischintakoili police limits of the district on Sunday.

The deceased persons have been identified as Ganjendra Pradhan of Jamara village and his niece Lipi Pradhan.

According to reports, the accident took place when a speeding sand-laden truck hit the duo from front causing their death on the spot. The deceased were returning home.

The irate locals waylaid the truck and beat the driver black and blue before the Nischintakoili police came to his rescue. They also had torched the vehicle on fire. However, a team of fire fighters from Nischintakoili rushed to the spot and doused the fire.

This apart, the angry locals staged a road blockade on Katikota-Jaipur route by keeping the bodies on the road and demanding adequate compensation for the kin of the deceased persons. Vehicular movement on the route was hit following the road blockade. However, they lifted the road blockade after getting assurance from the local administration.
