Traffic checking in Cuttack at night, Rs. 4.91 lakh fines collected

Cuttack: There has been a traffic checking in Cuttack city of Odisha in which fines to the tune of a whooping Rs. 4.91 lakh has been collected.

It is further worth mentioning that, the Motor Vehicle enforcement team and night checking of vehicles in Cuttack city is being done on a regular basis.

In last 24 hours it is worth mentioning that there has been traffic checking in Cuttack and huge amount of fine has been collected. It is further worth mentioning that, as many as 475 e-challans have been issued in this regard.

Further, as many as 168 vehicles have been checked by the patrolling units in the city. Fine to the tune of Rs. 4,91,000 lakh has been imposed in the past 24 hours. It is to be noted here that as many as four vehicles have been seized under drunken driving cases in Cuttack city.

This checking has been done in continuation with the Commissionerate police’s effort to make roads safe and to put a check on drunken driving in the twin cities of Cuttack and Bhubaneswar.

Recently on February 6 there was a major checking for drunken driving in Bhubaneswar, the Laxmisagar police conducted a late night drunken driving enforcement in the area, and detained as many as four vehicles under the drive against drunken driving.

It is worth mentioning that the Commissionerate police has adopted a zero tolerance towards drunken driving. In the first week of February itself as many as 40 people have bene booked under the drunken driving clause.

The Commissionerate Police has intensified its crack down on drunken driving and has booked 40 people in Bhubaneswar city from February 1 to February 4, 2024.

As per the data of the city police, FIR has been filled against all 40 persons driving under the influence of liquor during the last four days. Besides, all 40 vehicles have been seized.

Their Driving Licenses will be suspended, said sources at the police adding that the enforcement drive has been carried out jointly by Traffic wing and the Police Stations.

Enforcement against drunken driving will be intensified further in Chandrasekharpur, Infocity, Maitri Vihar and Laxmisagar Police station areas.
