The third convocation ceremony of KISS Kalinga Institute of Social Sciences University in Bhubaneswar is underway, said reports.
Bhubaneswar: The third convocation ceremony of KISS University in Bhubaneswar is underway. Kalinga Institute of Social Sciences ‘KISS’ is recognized as the world’s largest ethnic residential university.
Governor Raghubar Das is attending the function as the chief guest. Chhattisgarh Governor Bishwabhushan Harichandan is in attendance as the guest of honour. Amitabh Kant, G-20 Sherpa of Central Government and former CEO of Niti Aayog, has delivered the inaugural address at the convocation ceremony.
Along with him, the three-time Grammy Award winner and internationally renowned Indian musician Ricky Cage has been invited as the guest of honour. On this occasion, the Governor of Chhattisgarh, Bishwabhushan Harichandan, will be awarded an honorary doctorate. Apart from this, doctorates will also be awarded to four other eminent persons for their outstanding contributions in various fields.
They are Swami Chidanand Saraswati, President and Spiritual Head of Paramarth Niketan Ashram in Risikesh, Indian Culture Promotion Trust President and Spiritual Guru Vaishree Ramesh Bhai Ojha, Monetary Authority of Singapore Chief FinTech Officer and Board Chairman of Elephant Singapore Swapnendu Mohanty and Rufus B. Rodriguez the Philippines MP.
In this convocation of KISS university, 50 students who have completed their BA, MPhil and Ph.D. degrees will be conferred with their degrees. Apart from this, graduates will be awarded Founder’s Medal, Chancellor’s Gold Medal, Chancellor’s Gold Medal, and Chancellor’s Silver Medal for meritorious work in other fields.
Educationist, social worker Dr. Achuta Samantha founded KISS in 1992-93. However, this institution, which started with 125 students, is now providing free education to 40,000 ribal students with various branches. About 40 thousand students have graduated from here and are engaged in various professions. Emphasis has always been placed on quality, holistic education and girl empowerment, vocational and life skills education, especially humanitarianism and sustainable development.
