Temperature drops to 1 degree Celsius in Similipal as cold wave sweeps across Odisha

The temperature in Similipal Conservatory in the Mayurbhanj district of Odisha has dropped to as low as 1 degree Celsius.

Mayurbhanj: The temperature in Similipal National Park in the Mayurbhanj district of Odisha has dropped to as low as 1 degree Celsius. The near-zero temperature has brought the onslaught of bone-chilling cold and fog in the area. The low temperature has caused the morning dews to be frozen. The people living in the area have also been affected by the cold wave.

Due to the bone-biting cold along with the dense fog, the visibility has dropped and it has become difficult to see anything from the period between 3 am to 9 am. The roads become deserted during the morning and evening hours.

Under the influence of the cold wave, the temperature in various places of the state has been dropping continuously.

Despite the cold, the tourists still crowded the Similipal to witness the beautiful winter scenery of the National Park. Taking advantage of the gathering of tourists, the winter wear shopkeepers have also opened shops in the area to earn some profit.

Meanwhile, the temperature in 5 places of the state has fallen below 10 degrees and 23 places has recorded temperature below 15 degrees Celsius. The twin cities Bhubaneswar and Cuttack have recorded temperatures of 13.2 and 13.5 degrees respectively. The minimum temperature in Kandhamal remains between 7 to 9 degrees Celsius.

The cold wave will likely subside from December 17 in Odisha. Some places in the state have been predicted to receive rainfall from December 22 to 24.
