Sub-Inspector,constable attacked by retired Jawan in Banki, both hospitalised

A sub-inspector and a constable sustained injuries after being attacked by a retired jawan with a sword at Harirajpur village under Banki police limits

Banki: A sub-inspector and a constable sustained injuries after being attacked by a retired jawan with a sword at Harirajpur village under Banki police limits of Cuttack district on Sunday morning.

The injured sub-inspector identified as Sambit Swain along with the constable had gone to arrest the accused Jawan Saroj Das, when the agitated jawan attacked them with sword.

Both the injured police personnel were immediately rescued and admitted to Banki hospital for treatment. After preliminary treatment, both SI Sambit and Constable Uttam had to be shifted to SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack for better treatment after their condition deteriorated.

The reason behind the attack is still unknown. Saroj has been accused of creating terror in the village in the past.
