State to discuss CBSE results row with Centre today

Result problemBhubaneswar: Odisha government will take up the issue of gross discrepancies in the CBSE Class 12 results with the Union government on Thursday.

Informing about this, School & Mass Education and Science & Technology Badri Narayan Patra said, “It is a very unfortunate incident. We will discuss the matter with the Central government today and urge them to conduct the reevaluation and publish the fresh results at the earliest possible.”

The Minister also found fault with officials of the CBSE regional centre for not doing anything to resolve the issue.

“It is very unfortunate that the regional CBSE office has not shown any interest to address the demand of the affected students. However, I welcome the order of the Orissa High Court on the issue,” he added.

Meanwhile, many students applied for reevaluation at the CBSE Regional Office in Bhubaneswar today as per the order of the HC yesterday.

On Wednesday, the Court had ordered revaluation of answer sheets of the 18 students, who had filed separate petitions seeking reevaluation of their papers.

The students and their parents have been protesting for the last 10 days seeking a resolution of the serious discrepancies in the results, which have put the career of over 1,000 students in Bhubaneswar region in jeopardy. The Parents’ Association has launched an indefinite strike since yesterday.

The agitation is being supported by the students’ wing of the political parties in the state.
