Sr Revenue Assistant arrested on charges of bribery

Jajpur: Odisha Vigilance apprehended Subrat Kumar Kanungo, the Senior Revenue Assistant (SRA) of office of DIPRO and also in additional charge of office of DWO in Jajpur on charges of bribery.
Acting on the complaint filed against Kanungo, the anti-vigilance sleuths laid a trap and apprehended him while he was taking a bribe of Rs 10,000.
The accused was taking the money as the second and final instalment of the overall demand of Rs 25,000 from an SC/ST Act Atrocity victim for facilitating release of compensation amount in her favour as per SC and ST Atrocity Act.
Accused Kanungo had demanded Rs 25000 bribe from the victim to process her file and help her get the total compensation amount and had earlier taken Rs 15000 bribe.
Soon after nabbing him, the vigilance officers registered a case no 40 dt. 26-12-2023 U/s-7PC (Amendment) Act, 2018, against him and conducted simultaneous searches at two of his locations from DA angle.
Further investigation is underway.
