Severe Cold Wave Warning For Odisha, IMD Issues Orange Alert

Bhubaneswar: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Tuesday said the minimum temperature will hover 5 to 6 degrees below normal.

Coastal Odisha temperatures will range 4 to 5 degrees below normal during the next 3 days.

An Orange warning for cold to severe cold wave conditions has been issued for seven districts in the State.

The seven districts are: Sundergarh, Jharsuguda, Mayurbhanj, Kalahandi, Bolangir, Sonepur and Boudh.

Yellow Warning has been issued for the following districts namely: Balasore, Bhadrak, Kendrapada, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khordha Cuttack, Ganjam, Nayagarh, Jajpur, Dhenkanal, Keonjhar, Angul, Deogarh, Sambalpur, Bargarh, Nuapada, Kandhamal and Nabarangpur.

It is noteworthy that Daringbadi recorded a low 3.5 degree Celcius while Phulbani recorded 4°C. A layer of snowflakes has been spotted on bikes, cars, grass, and on the roof of the houses in the Koida, Tensa, Sanindpur, Kasira, and Kalta areas.

Apart from Daringbadi and Phulbani, as many as 17 places in Odisha have recorded below 10°C including Balasore at 9.8°C, Chandabali at 9.2°C, Angul at 8.6°C, Baripada at 8.5°C, Jharsuguda at 6.4°C, Keonjhar at 6.2°C, Sambalpur at 8.5°C, Sundergarh at 6.5°C, Hirakud at 8.6°C, Talcher at 9°C, Bhawanipatna at 6°C, Bolangir at 7.5°C, Koraput at 8.5°C, Titlagarh at 6.8°C, Sonepur at 8.5°C, Nayagarh 9°C, and Boudh 7°C.
