Security Beefed Up At Bhubaneswar Station After Army Aspirants Create Ruckus

Bhubaneswar: Security has been beefed up at Bhubaneswar railway station following ruckus by aspirants participating in the recruitment drive of 120 Infantry Battalion at the station last night.

Both the Railway Protection Force (RPF) and Government Railway Police (GRP) have decided to deploy adequate men at the station to prevent aspirants from forcefully occupying berths in trains.

RPF officials said that passengers with valid tickets will only be allowed to enter their respective bogies.

Tension erupted at the station last night after hundreds of aspirants occupied the berths without valid tickets. The aspirants have also pulled the emergency chain of Puri-New Delhi Purushottam Express multiple times. Later RPF and GRP have resorted to mild lathi-charge to disperse the aspirants.

The recruitment drive which started from Monday will continue till October 24 and it is expected that around 10000 aspirants will participate in the recruitment drive. However, the aspirants have been creating ruckus in the state capital.

Police Commissioner, Sudhanshu Sarangi today wrote to the state government and 120 Battalion officials asking them not to conduct such interviews in the state capital.
