Salesman killed following argument over payment of Rs 10 in Odisha’s Balangir

In an unfortunate incident, a salesman was beaten to death by three youths following an argument over payment of Rs 10 at Khaprakhol police limits in Balangir district yesterday.

Balangir: In an unfortunate incident, a salesman was beaten to death by three youths following an argument over payment of Rs 10 at Khaprakhol police limits in Balangir district yesterday.

The deceased salesman was identified as Gopal Prasad. He was working as a salesman at a foreign liquor (FL) off-shop.

Biswanath Nial (28), Laxman Das (30), and Jogindra Bariha (28) of Kharkhara village had reportedly gone to the liquor shop. After consuming liquor, the trio went again to buy some more wine.

They asked for a particular liquor bottle which Gopal, who was on the counter, brought them immediately and took Rs 180. However, after realizing that the price of the bottle was increased by 10 rupees, he asked the trio to pay the money.

However, the trio denied to pay the money and had a heated argument with Gopal. Soon, their altercation turned ugly as they dragged him out of the wine hop and thrashed him mercilessly leaving him profusely bleeding.

Soon, the Khaprakhol police reached the spot after getting information about the crime and rushed Gopal to the Khaprakhol Community Health Centre (CHC) for treatment. Later, he was shifted to Patnagarh Sub-Divisional Hospital (SDH) as his condition deteriorated further. From there, he was shifted to VIMSAR in Burla where he breathed his last while undergoing treatment.

On the other hand, cops arrested the accused persons after registering a case and forwarded them to court.
