Saina Nehwal scripts history in BWF World Championships

Nanjing (China): Saina Nehwal created history during the ongoing 10th World Championships here on Thursday. She became the first woman to reach the quarter-finals of the BWF World Championships for eight consecutive time.

Saina defeated Thailand’s Ratchanok Intanon (21-16 & 21-19) to enter the quarter-finals of the 10th education of Championships. She will now face world no 8 Carolina Marina in the quarter-finals.

PV Sindhu and Sai Praneeth are the other two Indian players who advanced into the quarter-finals.

While Sai Praneeth overcame Hans-Kristian Solberg Vittinghus 21-13, 21-11, PV Sindhu defeated Sung Ji-hyun in straight sets 21-10, 21-18.

On the other hand, Kidambi Srikanth continued his poor form as he crashed out of the competition in the third round after losing to Daren Liew in straight sets 21-18, 21-18.
