Rs. 40,500 challan issued to passenger bus in Puri

A bus has been issued a challan of Rs. 40, 500 for violating traffic rules and driving by being drunk in Odisha’s Puri district.

Puri: A bus has been issued challan of Rs. 40, 500 for violating traffic rules in Odisha’s Puri district.

The bus was en route to Kolkata from Puri with 25 passengers onboard. It was stopped by district RTO officials stopped the bus near Malatipatapur.

According to sources, while checking, it was revealed that the driver was under the influence of alcohol. Meanwhile, when the papers of the bus were checked, it was found that the driver was also driving the bus without a license and proper permit.

The RTO officials immediately detained the driver along with the vehicle and issued a challan of Rs 40,500.

The passengers were sent to Kolkata by another bus.

Drink and drive cases have been increasing rapidly in the state. On Wednesday, an intoxicated man drove all over the Silver City Cuttack, causing a series of accidents in the city. The state government has hence issued many rules and challan amounts to put a check on such cases.
