Rs. 10.5cr worth opium destroyed in Simlipal of Odisha

Simlipal: Simlipal area in Mayurbhanj district of Odisha has become the hub of opium cultivation, said reliable reports. For the fourth time, a large-scale raid has taken place in the Simlipal sanctuary.

Opium plants worth 10 crores and 50 lakhs have been seized. The seizure and raid has been done in the presence of the Excise department staff and Karanjia additional Tehsildar.

These opium plants worth crores were planted on 15 acres of land in Sarada village in the core area of Simlipal sanctuary. The Excise department has destroyed opium trees worth crores of rupees.

Opium cultivation has been going on in Simlipal Sanctuary for years. Now the hub of opium cultivation is the Simlipal sanctuary of Mayurbhanj district.
