Rayagada Excise Superintendent Under Vigilance Scanner

Rayagada: The Odisha Vigilance on Saturday apprehended the Excise Superintendent of Rayagada after being caught with unaccountable cash of Rs 6 lakh in a car near Khordha.

The Excise Superintendent has been identified as Nina Beura.

Based on reliable information about the proceeding of Beura from Rayagada to Bhubaneswar carrying ill-gotten money collected from different sources, she was intercepted by a team of Odisha Vigilance near Bhubaneswar at 11.30 pm on May 13.

During interception Rs, 6 Lakh was recovered from her possession, which she could not account for satisfactorily. Following the interception, searches are underway at different residential areas of Beura and her relatives.

“Her husband, Nihar Ranjan Mohanty, left Mahanga police station to evade search. The vigilance team, on reaching his quarter at Mahanga, found it locked and the IIC untraceable,” the Vigilance stated in a statement.  The Vigilance team, on reaching his quarter at Mahanga, found it locked and the IIC has been untraceable.

Till the last reports came in, Mahanga IIC appeared at the Bhubaneswar Vigilance SP’s office for further inquiry. Adding to it, Nina has been arrested and will be forwarded to court today.
