Railway minister Ashwini Vaishnaw to file nomination for Rajya Sabha polls today

Bhubaneswar: Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw will file nomination for Rajya Sabha polls today, said reliable reports in this regard. It is noteworthy mentioning that today marks the last date for filing nomination for Rajya Sabha polls.

Ashwini Vaishnaw will be the third candidate from Odisha to file nomination for the Rajya Sabha elections in Odisha.

Earlier in the year 2019, Ashwini Vaishnaw had contested for Rajya Sabha polls in Odisha as a BJP candidate. This is the second time he will be contesting for Rajya Sabha polls. The Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) on Wednesday announced the name of Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw from Odisha.

After which, the State ruling Biju Janata Dal (BJD) extended its support to Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw in the upcoming Rajya Sabha election.

“Biju Janata Dal will support the candidature of Shri Ashwini Vaishnaw, Hon’ble Union Minister, Railways, Communication and Information and Technology for the larger interest of State’s Railways and Telecom Development in the ensuing Election to Rajya Sabha-2024,” said party president Naveen Patnaik.

Debasish Samantaray and Subhasish Khuntia of Biju Janata Dal (BJD) on Tuesday filed nomination for Rajya Sabha elections. The process of filing nomination paper was held in the presence of the BJD Supremo Naveen Patnaik and many other senior BJD leaders.

MLA Debasish Samantaray and Subhasish Khuntia filed their respective nomination papers for Rajya Sabha in the presence of CM Naveen Patnaik and senior ministers and several MLAs.
