Radiologist loots Rs 31 lakh from patients’ relatives with fake bills in Cuttack, arrested

A radiologist of a private hospital was arrested on charges of looting over Rs 31 lakh from patients’ relatives with fake bills in Cuttack City.

Cuttack: A radiologist of a private hospital was arrested on charges of looting over Rs 31 lakh from patients’ relatives with fake bills in Cuttack City. The arrested radiologist has been identified as Narayan Behera.

According to Cuttack Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Anil Mishra, the accused was reportedly working at a private hospital since 2019. However, he used to loot money from the patient’s relatives by issuing them fake bills.

The Additional DCP further said that police started an investigation into the matter after several allegations were leveled against Behera. He was arrested from the Sijua village under section 408, 417 and 420 of the IPC and forwarded to the court, the DCP added.

Further probe into the matter is underway and police will also arrest the other employees of the hospital who are involved in the fraud, he said.
