Puri: Putting their lives at risk, some lifeguards reportedly saved the lives of at least four tourists who were drowning in section-3 area of the sea here today.

According to reports, a group of tourists from the Chauliaganj area of Cuttack City had gone to the Puri City to have the darshan of Lord Jagannath and his siblings.

After visiting the 12th century shrine, they went to the seaside area for sightseeing and take a bath. While bathing, at least five of them were being swept away by strong waves of the water. However, the alert lifeguards, who were in the beach, swung into action immediately and rescued all of them from drowning.

The rescued tourists have been identified as Chintu Kumar, Bipin Kumar, Kamalesh Kumar and Mahesh Kumar. All of them were rushed to the district headquarters hospital for treatment.

Meanwhile, people hailed the lifeguards as their timely and prompt action saved the lives of four people.
