Prafulla Kar: The noted Music director will remain immortal in the hearts of Odias forever
Prafulla Kar was a legendary Odia musician, singer, lyricist and writer. He had received Padma Shri Award for his contribution in the field of arts.
Kar was born on February 16, 1939 into a musician family in Puri where his paternal uncle Khetra Mohan Kar was a renowned Tabla Player.
He was raised by his grandfather Bhagaban Misra and grandmother Apanna Devi as he lost his father Baidyanath Kar at an early stage of life.
In a popular culture, ‘Prafulla Kar Samman’ award has been given to many budding singers every year to celebrate his birthday.
The legend worked as a music director in around 70 odia movies which includes both released and unreleased.
