Popular Odia film producer Subash Rout passes away

Cuttack: Noted Odia film maker Subash Rout passed away following a cardiac arrest at his residence here today. He was 62.

Rout was suffering from cancer for past few years and was under medication for the disease, says reports.

Rout’s demise left a vacuum in Ollywood as he had carved out a special place for him in the industry through his classic piece of works in the form of Odia movies like, Suna Panjuri, Santan, Bhagya Hate Dori, Lakhmana Rekha and Singha Bahini.

The veteran producer’s ever green movie ‘Suna Panjuri’ gave him widespread acclamation and gave its lead actor Siddhant Mohapatra a big twist in his career. The ‘Puchuki Gali’ song of the movie remained chartbuster at that time and later attained the status of an evergreen song of Odia movie industry.

Rout, who later forayed into tele serial making gave a popular series to the viewers of the small screen in the form of ‘Bidhata Ra Khela’.

Ollywood fraternities have expressed their condolence on the passing away of the great movie maker and dubbed it as an irreparable loss to the industry.
